Watch What You Touch! Molecules Are Profiling You…

whats-on-your-phoneMost of us wouldn’t be surprised to know that there are private things on our phones. But when we say that, we generally mean the things that are “in” the phone – web sites visited, e-mails, texts, etc., not “on” it. Nevertheless, a new study at the University of California discovered a way to profile an individual from private details about their lives…from molecules left behind, literally, “on” their phones.

Using a technique called mass spectrometry, researchers tested 500 samples from 40 adults’ mobile phones. Dr Amina Bouslimani revealed the results. They discovered such things as: gender, what cosmetics are used, if hair has been dyed, if the person drinks coffee, beer, or wine, if they like spicy foods, if they are being treated for depression, if they spend a lot of time outdoors, etc.

You see, we leave stuff behind on everything we touch – even germaphobes who wash hands and use hand sanitizer. And the scientists were able to profile users based merely on molecules left on cell phones!

If a database of information is available at the molecular level, can you imagine what we leave behind at the spiritual level? It is hard to comprehend, but God sees everywhere we go, everything we do. He even knows every thought we think – far beyond the molecular level. Paul warned us to remember this principle in 1 Corinthians 6:15-17 – our spirits bear the evidence of the things we touch.

Therefore, let us exercise great care, friends, in the things to which we join ourselves! If we “carry the evidence” with us eternally, let us make every effort to join ourselves to the Lord by being one spirit with Him. This is the proper response of those who have been forgiven of their sins, washed clean by the blood of Christ.

God doesn’t look at us with human eyes or mass spectrometers. Rather, He sees into the heart of a person (1 Samuel 16:7). God sees whether we have been covered with Jesus’ blood, and He profiles our relationship. Thankfully, He forgives us, as we show our love, in Christ.  So…what’s your heart been touching?
